Enabling our kids by making excuses for their behavior will never help them. Too often we are so close to the situation that we can’t see the issues clearly. As a result, we create crippled, entitled, dependent children who become adults who make other people miserable.

Everyone who has heard the story about the mom who let her infant die from neglect because she was addicted to video games has a right to be outraged. I think we call it righteous indignation. When a mom is so focused on a fictitious baby in a video game she forgets to take care of her own real-life child, there is a problem. A huge problem.
The baby died from malnourishment because she was not paying attention to it. When further questioned, she said they didn’t tell her how much to feed her at the hospital and she didn’t realize she was starving the baby to death.

In one of my more foolish moments as a young adult, I asked my mom what I could do to pay her back for all she had done for me. I did not have children at the time I asked that question so I really did not understand the real value of the question.

Don't Panic. This blog will not be political.
However, it will be about motherhood. And the election.
Many times as parents we have a tendency to ignore our children during political seasons. I don't mean we are not paying attention to them.

This is a day that gets attention from the national media but I am afraid we have a generation of children who truly do not understand that it is more than just a day off from school. We as a nation living in war time and if you looked around in the United States, you would probably not have much evidence of that.

Last night, all was quiet in my home. It was about 11:30 pm and everyone was winding down for the evening. Presents were bought and wrapped, plans for the family gathering were made, and now we waited for Christmas Eve, my favorite part of Christmas.
